What this is

This site is the companion to the book *Not Born Yesterday: The Plain-English Guide to Online Safety for Seniors*. The book teaches ten simple laws; this site walks you through each how-to in plain steps, with a simple illustration of what to look for on screen. We focus on the underlying principles — the parts that don't change — so the guidance stays useful even as apps move things around.

Our one promise

We earn nothing from any app, tool, or service we recommend. Not a commission, not a kickback, not a penny. When we suggest a password manager or point you to a website, it's because it's the right call for you — full stop. That independence is the whole point.

How we keep this trustworthy

We built this around principles and plain words — not screenshots that go stale — so most of it simply stays true. We revisit a page only when something real changes: a tool is discontinued, a rule changes, or a new scam appears. We don't chase every cosmetic app tweak, and that's deliberate — it's how we keep what you read accurate. Each page shows the date it was last checked.
